PRODUCTION USE

When is free use covered?

The Additional Use Grant covers eligible personal use, non-profit organizations, education/research and internal business use where consolidated annual Group revenue is at most EUR 2,000,000.

The threshold applies to the controlling group, not separately to each subsidiary. New groups use a documented, reasonable first-year forecast. See the license for definitions and currency conversion.

Third-party commercial offerings are different.

Productive OEM/appliance, SaaS, hosting and managed-service offerings for third parties, where MagicStick is material to the offering, are excluded from the free production-use grant regardless of revenue. A contractor acting solely for an eligible customer’s internal benefit may operate under that customer’s permission.

BSL’s copying, modification, redistribution and non-production-use rights are not restricted by the grant; resale alone is not a licensing trigger. The dashboard’s “Free” status does not determine your legal eligibility.

FROM REQUEST TO ACTIVATION

Request it in the dashboard.

Only Federated SSO is feature-gated. Core functions remain available without a license file.

    Prepare the request

    Open System → License → Request license. Enter a customer reference, select Free Registered or Commercial, and choose a validity period.

  2. 02

    Send it privately

    Download the unsigned JSON. Contact QualityMinds to arrange issuance and send the request to the authorized issuer. Do not post it in a public issue.

  3. 03

    Review and activate

    The issuer reviews eligibility and terms and signs the license. Upload the signed result, validate it, then explicitly activate it in the dashboard.

Downloading a request does not activate a feature. The initial 30-day validity is an editable request default, not a trial offer. Commercial rights, fees and support terms require separate agreement.

What does not change

Source-available, not Open Source

MagicStick’s own code uses BSL 1.1. Each version changes to the MIT Change License three years after its first public distribution. Redistribution does not restart that period.

No online activation server

Signed files are verified offline. The software does not inspect revenue. If Federated SSO entitlement expires, local login and recovery remain available.
